Chapter 1

Location: Planet Mobius

It was a quiet day on the Planet Mobius. Everyone was going about their business. Citizens of Knothole village walked around, visiting with friends, shopping, took naps in the sun, and just enjoyed life. Up on Angel Island, everything was quiet…a bit too quiet for the guardian of the island: Knuckles the Echidna. He looked around the Shrine of the Master Emerald making sure that nothing happened to it. Knuckles sighed, “It’s not fair…I know it’s my job to guard the emerald, but Sonic and Tails get to have all the fun. I mean, they always have to stop Robotnik and all I have to do is try not to let him dupe me….seriously, last time he duped me, Sonic wouldn’t shut up.”

Knuckles sat down next to the giant emerald and stretched. “Man, I kinda wish I could go on an adventure soon.” He leaned back and closed his eyes and yawned, just standing around doing nothing can really make a guy drowsy. Knuckles fell asleep and dreamt of finally showing Sonic that he’s smarter than he looks and totally rubbing it in Sonic’s face.

Meanwhile, Dr. Robotnik was up to his usual evil-ness….ness….ness…ANYWAYS! He was tinkering with something when an idea came to his evilly twisted mind and he came a cross old schematics. He laughed, “With all of these, I might be able to finally defeat that accursed hedgehog!!!”

Meanwhile, in a wide open field, everything was quiet. All except for a speedy blue hedgehog named Sonic. He was running at top speed for Knothole village and screeched to halt right outside the village. The dust settled and he dusted himself off. “So,” He said with a smug grin. “How’d I do Tails? Did I beat my old record?”
Miles Tails Prower looked at the stop watch, “Nah, not this time Sonic.”
“WHAT?! Why not?”
“Because you didn’t tell me to start the darn thing.”
“Tails….” Sonic rubbed his face. “I thought I said that when I take off, THAT’S when you’re supposed to start the clock!”
“But you didn’t say that, Sonic!”
“SONIC! THERE YOU ARE!!!” As soon as Sonic heard that, his quills stood even higher than usual. “Uh boy….see ya later Tails!” Sonic sped off at the speed of sound  leaving Tails and Amy Rose in the dust.

Sonic slowed down a bit and looked at the scenery as he ran. He smiled, remembering the time when he and the Freedom Fighters fought against Robotnik for the Great Forest. Sonic sped up again and zipped between the trees at break neck speed. He heard  something fly through the branches and he looked up. Then things went black.
